While Saki struggled with her boyfriend's obsession with anime and culture, he was having a good time at Genshiken. He gradually came to terms with his identity as an otaku.

Contrary to Kirino's initial concern, he sees no reason to betray her salacious hobby, so he quickly becomes her interlocutor and lackey while she pursues her obsession.
